WALKING THE SOUL BACK HOME ORIGINAL PAINTING

£845.00

Walking the Soul Back Holme (Fresco II)

Oil on Canvas

65×40 cm

Finished with a brown wood frame, ready to hang.

This piece draws inspiration from contemporary murals and ancient frescoes, in particular those I studied in Jaipur, India during my Artist Residency there in early 2026, questioning the ways in which we bring the beauty of nature into our urban environments.

This piece is imagined from the many plants which grow through concrete and stone in city environments which should be too harsh for them, somehow push through and bring beauty and colour to an urban space.

I painted the plant with layers of oils to build a surface that convey a velvety, smooth feel against a glowing background, built up with layers of ochre pigments using a palette knife to add texture reminiscent of an old cement building in the Indian sun. The bold but minimal colours create an image that could represent a flower growing against a concrete wall, or a mural depicting a flower on the wall - it is for the viewer to decide.

The piece is finished with a brown frame to elevate the concept of a fresco to a piece of art.
