From my 'Metamorphosis' collection featuring 5 moths and butterflies I have seen in the wild, both here in the UK and on my travels. The presence of butterflies and moths gives me a sense of calm, as they can be seen to represent a healthy ecosystem.

This piece is a Willow Beauty Moth, painted with multiple layers of oil glazes to create an iridescent and fragile feel to the creature, against an abstracted, ombre deep blue background. The colour simultaneously pulls from the butterfly's wings, and creates a contrast to the peaceful image.

The piece is finished with a rich mahogany deep frame to elevate the piece and enhance the image.
