From my new collection of Works on Paper, inspired by the transitional Spring days in London, when the colour, textures and organic shapes that start to appear in contrast with the urban environment.

These paint carvings capture the subject and the surroundings in a spontaneous way. Integrating my printing and tattooing processes into my oil painting practice, I create a composition inspired by the colours and textures of both the subject and surrounding environment, before carving out the botanical element as a single-process sketch; each mark and line definitive and permanent in the final image. This process demands decisiveness and spontaneity in equal measure, a freeing contradiction to my long and precise painting methods.
